How to work WITH your pain rather than AGAINST it ("Make pain your ally, not your enemy")

To reduce fear by learning the how & why of pain

To gain function in your day to day through safe exploration of movement in a way that is curious & playful

To gain confidence about deciding when to choose which practices to manage your pain

Learn to use breath, mindfulness, awareness, gratitude, and self-compassion practices to change your physiology and rewire your brain

and is designed with YOU in mind.

The Discover to Recover(DTR) program includes:

52 guided practices
3 full length movement classes (30-60 mins) in a mix of styles (yoga, pilates & somatics)
18 prompted explorations (including PDF’s)
2 live online Q&A sessions (Each live session will begin and end with a guided practice)

A short (2-10mins) movement practice will be unlocked daily and each Monday you will receive that week’s:

Pain care tip
Breath practice
Mindfulness and / or awareness practice
Journal prompt
Creativity exploration
Brain training exercise

You have the option of doing each practice once, any day of the week. Or repeat the practices and explorations however often feels good to you. The program offers a suggested pace but YOU are in charge and can tailor it to your needs and abilities.

Once content is unlocked, you can go back to it as often as you like.

MEET COLLEEN

After 23yrs of working with the human body it continues to surprise me! This is part of what continues to send me back to my books, to the research and to new courses to learn more and more about the incredible capacity of the human body.

The other aspect is that I have been living in pain myself since 2010

and want everyone out there to have access to the same tools and information that I have.

Beginning with an Exercise Science degree from Concordia university in 1996 I continued to explore many aspects of movement and along the way got certifications as an Athletic Therapist, a therapeutic Pilates and yoga teacher, Pain Care yoga and a Gentle Somatic yoga teacher.

Also interested in honing my palpation skills and learning how to help people with complex issues, I obtained my Osteopathy degree in 2005 from Le Collège d’Etudes Ostéopathiques de Montréal (CEO).

In the past ten years, I have pursued over 1500 hrs of continuing education credits in the fields of Osteopathy, Anatomy Trains, yoga, somatics, mindfulness and pain care.

A yearlong Professional Pain Care mentorship with Neil Pearson from Pain Care U was the icing on the cake for me! It was the perfect way to integrate the pain science I learned through the Neuro Orthopedic Institute of Australia (NOI) with what I knew about mindfulness, breath and movement.

A certificate in Acceptance and Comitment Therapy (ACT) for Chronic Pain with Joe Tatta and Pain Care Aware for yoga teachers through Pain Care U this year has rounded out my experience. The eclectic combination of methods and my lived experience as a person with chronic pain gives me a well-rounded & unique perspective and THAT is what the Discover to Recover program is based on. My husband likes to call me the MMA fighter of chronic pain and I think it's a good fit!!!

This program combines years of research, over 20 years of clinical practice & teaching movement,

and honours current pain neuroscience concepts.

There is nothing in this program I have not embodied to manage my own pain.

Q: I’ve never done an online program, do I need special equipment?

Nothing special! Just a computer (or phone or ipad) and internet access.

Q: much time will this program take?

You can work your way through this program in ANY way that feels good for you. If you prefer to have guidance and structure, my suggestion is to dedicate:

· 2-30 mins a day for movement, breath, mindfulness and / or awareness whichever elements in this program speak to you on any given day.

· Once a week, incorporate a longer movement session. How long that means is different for everyone. Start where feels good and build up to eventually doing a 30-60 minute session.

Q: Do I need to have any previous experience with breath or mindfulness to benefit from this program?

NO! I will guide you though every step of the way regardless how much experience you do or do not already have.

Q: If I enjoy a particular lesson, can I access it more than once?

ABSOLUTELY! New content will be unlocked daily. Once unlocked, all lessons will be available in your Namastream library and you can revisit them as often as you like for the duration of the program.

Q: Are you available for questions?

In case questions come up our 1st live session will be a week after the program starts.

Q: Will there be recordings of the live sessions?

YES! Participation in the live sessions are optional. They are there for YOU. If the timing doesn't work for you, you can access the recorded sessions any time throughout the duration of the program.

Every time I go live, there will be a recording of the session and all of the videos will be available in your online Namastream library so if you miss a live session, no problem! You can watch is at your convenience, as often as you like.
